THIS COULD HAPPEN TO US, BETTER READ AND SHARE

THIS COULD HAPPEN TO US

Video
http://www.kens5.com/on-tv/kens-reporters/joe-conger/We-want-out-of-here-Residents-blame-ailments-on-oil-field-toxins-206688131.html

KARNES CITY -- Like beacons, the flares in Karnes County draw attention to one of the biggest and most profitable oil and gas finds in the world. Under the light belching from the towers, Mike Cerny takes a puff of medicine in what is now an empty inhaler.

Cerny and his wife say the inhalers and medicines the family takes now eclipse the royalties their property earns from fracking.

“When you see your son with up to three nosebleeds a day, something’s wrong with this picture,” Myra Cerny said.

At first, she thought it was “time” that was taking its toll on their bodies.

“But it was coming on too fast, the symptoms," Cerny said. "And others the same age -- I have a twin sister -- aren’t sharing the same problems.”

But with every bit of gas and oil being extracted, the family noticed changes in their health. The flares are supposed to burn off unwanted gases, but the family noticed clouds of black smoke erupting with the flames.

“We are totally surrounded," Cerny said. "And no matter which way the wind blows, we’re getting downdraft from one or the other."

Worried, the Cernys contacted the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

In August and September, investigators with the TCEQ visited two units near their home. The leaking hydrocarbons are invisible to the naked eye, but are picked up as black smoke with the TCEQ’s infrared cameras.

The Cernys said their fears were realized when the TCEQ found the operator, Marathon Oil, was out of compliance.

“When they’re burning black and not operating right, like we’ve seen here, you have up to 250- pollutants raining down on your head," Cerny said.

According to TCEQ documents, methane, propane, butane, and hydrogen sulfides were in the noxious mix. The benzene emissions alone were reportedly four times over the legal limit.

The Cernys said it was the exposure to Benzene -— a known cancer-causing compound -— that matched their symptoms.

“That’s when we put things together. Well, that’s everything going on with our health. And we knew it was surrounding us,” Cerny said.

“Once you inhale it, your liver picks it up. And it is really what happens in the body that makes it carcinogenic,” said Dr. Andrew Brenner, a neurooncologist at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.

He said chronic, long-term benzene exposure is dangerous and can lead to blood cancers.

“People get leukemias, or you can have damage to your stem cells and their bone marrow. That results in an inability to make their own blood cells,” he said.

The Cernys said they’re breathing that air around their home 24 hours a day. Now the family worries about their growing boy, Cameron.

“It’s like a CSI episode: You picture the chemical going in their fragile lungs and what it is doing to their body. And you wonder, 'How much longer do they have?'”

The TCEQ made two recommendations to Marathon Oil: the company installs an alarm or monitor to make sure the flare is working properly, and that Marathon reports emissions problems within 24 hours.

The oil company received no fines from the state agency.

“We want out of here,” Mike Cerny said.

The Cernys said they are not alone in their suffering.

However, other nearby residents were reluctant to come forward, telling KENS 5 they have family working the oil and gas fields. Complaining, they said, could cost them their jobs.

The Cernys believe the industry may have already cost them their health.

“Death,” said Mike and Myra Cerny simultaneously.

“That’s all I can think. Death,” the worried mother said. “Seeing our son die maybe before us. That’s all you can think.”

MESS IN THE NORTH SEA

http://news.yahoo.com/flare-still-burning-north-sea-gas-leak-111809772.html

Here we go again. Will they every learn. It IS H2S gas coming out and burning off
sulfur dioxoide.  What a flustercluck.  Man, my sister lives in UK, 3 hours west of
London, thus nearer to this mess than I prefer.
UK Watch out!

What we have to put up with also........

http://oilandgasinnorthernmichigan.blogspot.com/2012/03/what-we-have-to-put-up-with-also.html

I had to go to the Emergency Room in my town of Cheboygan.  It is into bankruptcy and had a scare of a closure but I guess someone else is going to buy them.  They had already shut down OB/Peds, Intensive Care and many other things they offered. They plan (I hear) to keep the ER open but have a few beds for observation for 23 hours and then ship patient to Petoskey, larger town. I feel bad for all of those working there. We have family working there and we are so worried for them.  Well, this was my experience on March 17, my chronic myofascial pain, fibromyalgia other bone and muscle problems.  I DON'T go to ANY ER unless I am at the end of my rope.  My chiropractor friend and even my doctor insisted I go to the hospital.  My friend said I was too exhausted from fighting severe pain for almost 2 weeks.  She assured me I would be treated right, my doctor's nurse assured me he understood my hesitation but thought my body needed a break.  I waited until the next day.
THAT BE TOLD HERE IS WHAT HAPPENED.  I was told it was in my head, couldn't believe an industry would do what it had done to my small town of Lewiston.  The doctor sat down, crossed his legs and looked like he was staying a while.  He then tried to psychoanalyze me.  Wrong thing to do, I could  far psychoanalyze him through my life experiences.
Thank God Joe was right there with me and had had enough of the "interrogation" I was in no shape to take.  Joe's ex wife had been exposed to floor wax stripper when she worked at the Hospital years ago and that doctor remembered it.  Once he realized, I think, that he could no longer bully me-in the nice, professional way they try to-my care was finally addressed.
I know what I need when I get to that point I should not have had to get to.  Severe pain is stressful on the body and unnecessary these days but it still happens.
They are good people at that hospital.  I wish the doctor's would educate themselves and make the job easier for the nurses, PA's or whoever works with them.  Your ignorance only shows by not listening to your patient.  Listen to me, I DON'T WANT TO BE HERE BUT AS LONG AS I MADE THE DECISION AFTER HOURS OR DAYS OF SUFFERING PLEASE HELP ME.  I'm sure it was written clearly on my face.  I can't hide my "bad days" very well. My friends and family know that.
IN THE END, NOT ALL OF PEOPLE WITH CHRONIC, DEBILITATING, OUT OF CONTROL PAIN EXACERBATION IS  A DRUG ADDICT.  Look at their eyes, eyes
will give all away usually.
We don't want to lose our hospital so let's show them how good you are and save yourselves and the community.  You have given excellent care most of the time, don't let the ER doctor make all of you look bad, help your patient communicate with the doctor. The nurse has to be their patients advocate. Someone has to........
After some criticism, the ER  personnel have kind hearts, just help us when we can't help ourselves at the time.

H2S and what it does to the pipeline

http://www.osha.gov/SLTC/etools/oilandgas/general_safety/h2s_monitoring.html
if you look partway down the page you will see a pipeline that has had H2S running through it.  It doesn't take that long as it is so caustic.  Trying to find Michigan health info. but came across this.

Please help and getting geared up

Since I see my daughter once a year, I have been working on becoming somewhat healthy to visit her.  It is hard for her to see me this way so I try to hide as much as possible.  Right now I have about 12 pounds of fluid on me.  Right leg almost twice size as left. (always the right leg it seems from those exposed over the years.   We are hoping to someone get the fluid down but only after I visit my daughter today.  Any suggestions to my medical problems at the moment would be helpful.  This has been since the exposure H2S recently.
After I see my children will I then go full force into gas/oil.  Poor De can't go back to her home in Lewiston for what they are done but she will tomorrow.  I've been told one more big hit like that with H2S I may not make it out of it again.  And I have proof it was that H2S exposure here in Michigan recently.
I'm kinda looking forward to making some noise again and our new approach that others may find helpful.

Michigan update gas leak

Ok, we know how they lie to us.  I have been on the phone so much first being a nice "girl" and then  blasting them with the facts.  Oh how did we do it 2004-2008 full time?  Breitburn Energy, anyone deal with them (used to be Quick Silver).  Oh how soon I forget, I start them with honey and them wham them with the truth and the facts.  The lies being told is unbelievable.
The Canadian Police was called  by the Sault (in the U.P.) and warned by Breitburn to expect calls of people complaining of
natural gas leaks.  The H2S travelled farther than anyone imagined. I would say from Kalkaska to Petoskey up to the Mackinac Bridge, over to Cheboygan (me) and into Canada.
An official admitted it.  Thank God for an insider. Have one in the hydrofracking too. We are dealing with Antrim fracking wells at the moment.
Better put on my old sweatshirt worn in Lewiston, 'how can i live my dream when my life is a nightmare'.  Lots going on here in Northern Michigan and raising hell.   2 women hit with H2S watch out!! The TV stations are already downplaying it, as we expected, but we have the power of the internet and all you out there to give me the inspiration to give em heck.  I'm good at that.  Please keep Northern Michigan in your thoughts and ideas as my stroked brain isn't as up on it as I used to be.
Just wanted to share our progress with a compression station that also has an injection well, had a leak in a new fault valve in the Antrim well,  the size of a quarter coming out at 600 psi for we claim, according to my physical symptoms, a lot longer than being admitted, imagine that.
Ideas accepted.

Michigan Gas Leak

Minor Gas Leak Cleared Up In Crawford County

This was NO minor leak. Read the comments to find out
how far this MINOR leak went.

My cohort is in trouble(healthwise) so I have to step up and do more fighting.
She has had to evacuate, permanently, and at her safe zone another Lewiston
person, not from her family, showed up at her bug out place too. They are
safe at this point. MARKWEST IS THE CAUSE and I will start dealing
with that on Monday, hit them in their pocketbook.
Those of you fighting the hydrofracking, I need your emotional support as
we have Antrim fracking and oil drilling, people don't realize hydrofracking
is the least of their problems. Loads and loads of high levels
H2S being trucked into the MarkWest 3-150,000 barrel tanks waiting to
go into the Enbridge pipeline.
At this time Enbridge has decided to open up some pipelines, literally and
leaving them open with sticks with lime green markers I've been told.
As ENBRIDGE is federally (haha) regulated they don't have to keep an eye
on how their pipelines are corroding. I've been told they are running a
"pig" through parts of the line (interesting) thus opening up the line to the air and anyone
who wants to see.

Those in Don't Frack Michigan and the watershed council you need to put this to the
forefront as many water sheds have been contaminated for years because of
these companies in the Lewiston/Gaylord and Northern Michigan. I will be
contacting some of you personally as I don't know who to trust anymore.

4 of us fought from 2004-2008 full time and backing off after that for various
reasons. My friend put her life on the line, as all of us has. She hever backed
down fighting for Lewiston despite the "crazy lady" stigma, as some of us know.
She sent us money to get our bathroom done so I could have a bathtub for my
physically therapy no questions asked, I needed help for my health, I had fought
hard and she wanted to help. She is my angel and saved my life many times.
I get so many emails or phone calls about people wanted information on how to
fight what this State and ...... is doing to them. It is heart breaking as all of us know.
So I'm going to try and step back up.

I think I know what plan of action but I could use suggestions.
Thomas, Dot and Lionel, it's De. Danny is real bad off.

Thank you for reading this and brain storming.

Where the water went????

Thanks Amy, I found this on Wikipedia.  Makes sense on where the water and whatever chemicals is going when it doesn't come back up.

Could this be an answer??

News about Northern Michigan

I received some information about Michigan from my contact. My computer had gone down so I couldn't pass it on when I said I would, here it is.
Just the deep hydrofracking wells:
In Kalkaska, they were getting light oil with a lot of the water. In the Spring the company might do more on that well and possibly produce. Huh?
Now the disturbing fact and PA and NY read up::::::
In  Wolverine (small town),  all of a sudden "the drilling water they pumped down stopped coming back up. The workers felt like they were in a cavern.  In a well down the road water (and what else) was put down the hole and there was NO WATER being pumped up"  Activity on those wells has been halted I believe.  WHERE IS THE WATER GOING IF IT DOESN'T COME BACK UP?  They don't know why? hmmm, scary situation.
The 2 wells by Lake City are producing. None of this is verified except my source talks right with the guys on the rigs.

Darn gas wells and forever fighting the health problems

I am so mad I could spit!!! You go to the doctor not expecting to be made worse by poor education by cleaning crews. OH! I went into the bathroom, there was no yellow cone outside the bathroom saying it was being cleaned and walked in floor wet, yellow cone inside the bathroom and chemical smell ......Joe found me and got a wheelchair and I got names to complain to as well as my incident report. Oh, I will go to the top with this and I will educate them on chemically sensitive people! There goes the next few days Damn! Even had my paper mask on with the big mask in the car. Never had a problem here before. Burns Clinic in Petoskey, you will know me personally!!!!!!!!!!!!

Think the Floods will hurt all our gas and oil stuff?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvDbB3HqNcA&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL

It is a few minutes long but wow, well worth watching.  It has main stream media news streams on it towards the end so it is happening.  I wonder how gas and oil wells are not under water just spewing away?  Ever wondered about it?  Those in that area God be with you, and all of us.

Chemical Sensitive here could be why.....

http://www.sixwise.com/newsletters/05/03/08/petroleum-distillate-in-your-lip-gloss-and-furniture-polish-shown-to-cause-tissue-disease.htm

Petroleum Distillate in Your Lip Gloss and Furniture Polish Shown to Cause Tissue Disease!
by SixWise.com

Perhaps you have never heard of petroleum distillates before, or given them much thought if you have, but it is almost certain you've used products that contain them - perhaps daily. These compounds, which are also called hydrocarbons or petrochemicals, are extracted by distillation during the refining of crude oil, and they're used as heating agents, propellants (gasoline) and solvents.
A study in the American Journal of Epidemiology found that being exposed to petroleum distillates increases the risk of developing undifferentiated connective tissue disease (UCTD), a chronic inflammatory autoimmune disease that involves a disorder of the body's connective tissues.
UCTD could include symptoms from, or evolve into any combination of, connective tissue diseases like lupus, scleroderma, polymyositis, vasculitis, rheumatoid arthritis, Sjogren's syndrome or fibromyalgia, yet has not met the official diagnostic criteria to be diagnosed as such.
Where are Petroleum Distillates Found?
Petroleum distillates are in hundreds of consumer products including:
  • Hair conditioner
  • Sunblock
  • Nail polish
  • Deodorant
  • Mineral oil
  • Lip gloss
  • Gasoline
  • Fertilizer
  • Furniture polish
  • Pesticides
  • Plastics
  • Paint thinners
  • Solvents
  • Motor oil
  • Fuels (propane, butane, diesel)
  • Petroleum jelly
  • Art supplies (oil painting medium)
  • Paste and liquid car waxes and polishes
  • Kerosene
  • Paraffin wax
  • Tar
  • Adhesives
According to the EPA, "Products that contain petroleum distillates should be used carefully. Wear gloves to avoid skin contact and avoid breathing vapors of volatile compounds."
Lipstick
Hundreds of products, including lip gloss, nail polish and hair conditioner, contain petroleum distillates that the EPA says should be used with caution.
That's because, in addition to raising the risk of UCTD, petroleum distillates can cause chemical pneumonia and can interfere with the lungs' functions-even resulting in death-if inhaled or swallowed. They can also irritate the skin and cause sensitivity to light.
Can Petroleum Distillates be Avoided?
As it stands, the average household contains, in the form of chemical products, about 10 gallons of potentially hazardous petrochemicals. Many, many household cleaners are based on petrochemicals, and while manufacturers are required to include warning labels on products that contain them, a New York Poison Control Center study found that 85 percent of product warning labels are inadequate.
So, when you clean, always seek out natural cleaners and use PerfectClean's ultramicrofiber cloths, which require the use of no cleaners at all yet clean down to a microscopic level-something ordinary cloth wipes can't do.
Further, petroleum distillates pose the greatest risk when they're breathed in. According to the EPA, even small amounts can cause harm. That's why ensuring that the air you breathe in your home is clean and free from toxins has become as important and necessary as locking your doors at night. Unfortunately, with all of the chemical products our society has come to rely on, indoor air can be two to 100 times more polluted than outdoor air, says the EPA!
When it comes to reducing your exposure to petroleum distillates, avoiding noxious chemical cleaners and other chemical products and purifying the air you and your family breathe while indoors are two of the best steps you can take.

Afraid but must be prepared

I've been sitting here looking at these maps...I know my daughter will probably be ok in NC and me and joe are in trouble in the upper part of the lower part of michigan and my son and his family may be ok towards the middle of the state.  I just think my sister and her family will be gone and my step mother is right on the edge. I have no idea where my brothers are but I wish I hadn't seen these maps.  But, we have to be prepared (as psa commercials on main stream media is telling us. If they are running commercials on being prepared for disasters something must be amiss) If the fault lines go as the seismo guys think there will be major change in this country.  My heart aches when I know my family in St. Louis MO will be in harms way also.
I'm not a "doomer" but these maps make me scared and sad because my family is fractured, as will be all those gas and oil wells will be when these earthquakes happen.
PSA's are telling us to be prepared and know where to go?
Do you? Would you be prepared if something bizarre were to happen as these maps show?  Enough food for months, water also.  This is what these commercials are trying to tell us.
Sad.....
Look at where the majority of wells are and think of what one of these maps will do to the infrastructure of the oil and gas industry.  I hope never in my lifetime or my children's...I fear that is not the saying people will be saying anymore...in our lifetime........jaime
