MESS IN THE NORTH SEA

http://news.yahoo.com/flare-still-burning-north-sea-gas-leak-111809772.html

Here we go again. Will they every learn. It IS H2S gas coming out and burning off
sulfur dioxoide.  What a flustercluck.  Man, my sister lives in UK, 3 hours west of
London, thus nearer to this mess than I prefer.
UK Watch out!

H2S and what it does to the pipeline

http://www.osha.gov/SLTC/etools/oilandgas/general_safety/h2s_monitoring.html
if you look partway down the page you will see a pipeline that has had H2S running through it.  It doesn't take that long as it is so caustic.  Trying to find Michigan health info. but came across this.

Metal Fatigue
Fig. 4. H2S metal fatigue
Fig. 4. H2S metal fatigue

Metal fatigue, including hydrogen embrittlement or sulfide stress cracking, can result in a release of hydrogen sulfide gas.

Potential Hazard:
  • Being exposed to Hydrogen Sulfide.

  • Getting Injured due to equipment failure.

Possible Solutions:
  • Select materials in accordance with the MR0175/ISO15156 criteria for H2S service.

    • MR 0175C, Metals for Sulfide Stress Cracking and Stress Corrosion Cracking Resistance in Sour Oilfield Environments. National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE), (2003, December) [Also ISO 15156, Petroleum and natural gas industries—Materials for use in H2S containing environments in oil and gas production, International Standards Organization (ISO)].
    •
      • About MR 0175. Reviewed and approved 15 proposals for change to the standard.

  • Treat drilling fluids to chemically reduce corrosion failures.

Please help and getting geared up

Since I see my daughter once a year, I have been working on becoming somewhat healthy to visit her.  It is hard for her to see me this way so I try to hide as much as possible.  Right now I have about 12 pounds of fluid on me.  Right leg almost twice size as left. (always the right leg it seems from those exposed over the years.   We are hoping to someone get the fluid down but only after I visit my daughter today.  Any suggestions to my medical problems at the moment would be helpful.  This has been since the exposure H2S recently.
After I see my children will I then go full force into gas/oil.  Poor De can't go back to her home in Lewiston for what they are done but she will tomorrow.  I've been told one more big hit like that with H2S I may not make it out of it again.  And I have proof it was that H2S exposure here in Michigan recently.
I'm kinda looking forward to making some noise again and our new approach that others may find helpful.

Please help us make noise in Northern Michigan

De LIddy will be at the Lewiston/Albert Township hall thursday January 12, 2011 to have
meeting with Judy Green and express concerns over the recent H2S exposure.
PLEASE IF YOU CAN BE THERE TOMORROW.
Also Chris Engle is doing a series of articles on what is going on in Lewiston/Gaylord
area.  We need you to call with your concerns or just say you have known about this for
years.  989-732-1111.
IF YOU CAN HELP WITH THOSE 2 THINGS, BLESS YOU.  I can't go to Lewiston anymore. My barrier line
is no more south than Indian River.  I and De and others have never stopped fighting for you and us.
Please help by doing these 2 things.
Thanks and Bless you

Michigan update gas leak

Ok, we know how they lie to us.  I have been on the phone so much first being a nice "girl" and then  blasting them with the facts.  Oh how did we do it 2004-2008 full time?  Breitburn Energy, anyone deal with them (used to be Quick Silver).  Oh how soon I forget, I start them with honey and them wham them with the truth and the facts.  The lies being told is unbelievable.
The Canadian Police was called  by the Sault (in the U.P.) and warned by Breitburn to expect calls of people complaining of
natural gas leaks.  The H2S travelled farther than anyone imagined. I would say from Kalkaska to Petoskey up to the Mackinac Bridge, over to Cheboygan (me) and into Canada.
An official admitted it.  Thank God for an insider. Have one in the hydrofracking too. We are dealing with Antrim fracking wells at the moment.
Better put on my old sweatshirt worn in Lewiston, 'how can i live my dream when my life is a nightmare'.  Lots going on here in Northern Michigan and raising hell.   2 women hit with H2S watch out!! The TV stations are already downplaying it, as we expected, but we have the power of the internet and all you out there to give me the inspiration to give em heck.  I'm good at that.  Please keep Northern Michigan in your thoughts and ideas as my stroked brain isn't as up on it as I used to be.
Just wanted to share our progress with a compression station that also has an injection well, had a leak in a new fault valve in the Antrim well,  the size of a quarter coming out at 600 psi for we claim, according to my physical symptoms, a lot longer than being admitted, imagine that.
Ideas accepted.

People in this Industry couldn't survive with what we put up with!

Northern Michigan here again.  I just have this feeling in the pit of my stomach that something is not right.  It has to do with going by that smelly Halliburton, A1 and Waste Management places.  I wonder how many of their children are sick with sinus issues (I had 4 nasal surgeries due to the industry, H2S in particular), or "mommy my heart feels funny", or short term memory goes on a trip or "look mommy, tommy tripped again over nothing".  Do their spouses try to tell these people when their own children aren't feeling well?  Ever wonder why you feel like you have bought the pediatricians new addition with so many visits?
How many victims are there out there, needlessly suffering not knowing there are people like us fighting for people like them.
Has a person working in this industry had to bring their 18 year old son to the Emergency Room because his heart was racing towards 200 beats per minute?  Had their 18 year old, athletic son, look at you like the little boy you are seeing him as at that moment?  How you feel every cell in your body stop as they put in the drug to stop my son's heart for a second hoping it would go back into a normal rhythm instead of atrial fibrillation.  Seeing the fear in this childs eyes as I hung onto his hand and gave him all the strength I had as they had to stop his heart again because the first time didn't work.  To have him working so close to these emissions and my hands are tied.  I have educated my children and they know they dangers but have they ever had to experience what we all have had to?!
If they had they wouldn't be doing what they are doing now. Operating with no regard to people or environment.
Damn you industry, DAMN YOU!!

STINKS UP HERE IN MICHIGAN

Was going to visit the grandchildren for the birthdays and this is our experience going through rural Northern Michigan.
We went by Halliburton and the rotten eggs smell was so strong. My son (who works across the street) says it usually it blows towards Kalkaska. I hugged him and he smelled like rotten eggs. I told him he should leave his clothes outside and not expose his family to this.  He said I know mom.  It stunk from Halliburton to  their house 15 miles away.  On the way home it was from A1 Safety/Safety First /Waste Management yard to Halliburton (at least 2 miles a part.)  I guess I can't go down there for sure now.  I was so mad joe just let me vent and pretended I had fake things to throw Home Land Security, bite me! Now I can't see my young grandchildren play basketball or go to their dance recitals.  That industry just keeps taking, never giving back except with bad things!
Ok, guess I had a little vent left in me.

If only I had......over and over again

I had the pleasure of speaking to Congressman Stupak at the conference call town hall meeting.
I am working on a letter to send to him regarding this whole mess we have here.  He has helped
us once before, time to step up to the plate again Bart.  He listens to you and seems down to earth
but then he leaves the room and he is a politician.  Can't trust em as far as you can throw them but
we need them and they need us.  We just have to remind them that they need us periodically. That isn't
even why I am blogging today.  Just popped up in the front of the brain and needed to come out first.
There are days like that.
I am blogging about the stupidity of chemically injured people.  One in particular, me.  Some that may come as no surprise as I am my worst enemy.  Joe and I was watching BoatNerds.com and seeing what Great Lakes Boat was out there.  There was one we were keeping our eye on because it was right out our back door, so to speak, and hadn't moved for days.  In fact ice had formed around it.  Finally yesterday it was moving.  Yeah! Let's all go down to the public beach and watch the Coast Guard break the ice so they can come on in to Cheboygan!  Us and quite a few other people had the same idea.  They must have marine radio's too.
I saw it in the harbor and told Joe we had to go home and get the camera this was just so cool.  Now, I knew better but I have the fascination with the Great Lakes Boats now.  We got the camera and he drove me up to the gate across from the Boat.  The Boat was carrying gasoline for the big tanks kept in Cheboygan that vent
to the air. My husband reminded me of that and kept me upwind from the tanker and tanks.  I got some great pictures but my sinsuses were filling a bit swollen and I was getting hoarse.  Joe took me over the bridge so I could get a picture of it on the other side of the boat.  (which was downwind from the tanker and tanks)  I started having fuzzy vision and acting drunk Joe said.  That is what happens when exposed and people just think there are alot of drunks around.  Joe experienced a headache and some fogginess.  He was surprised that he had felt something.  He realized he shouldn't have brought me down there at all but I was insistent and we forget the dangers.
For hours I could hardly move and my body hurt.  If only I had ignored my inner desire to see that Boat, but we want to be normal and I have to realize that I'm not.
I hate this industry for its shoddy practices.  The thousands of people who have things wrong with them because of this industries shoddy practices and selfishness makes me want to puke.  Some days I do.
Wanted to share my experience......we have to be aware of our surroundings and not ignore them.

Oil and Gas in Northern Michigan

Ah Northern Michigan, the long forgotten part of the state that alerted a lot of you to the dangers of the oil and gas industry. We (2 of us) felt that if we can help one person we have done our job and look how many we have helped. It is truly a blessing.
Yes, I am a casualty of the oil and gas industries alleged illegal activities. My life was nearly sniffed out and my children and I and John lost everything.
We lived downwind from an sour crude (though they denied it until we found the paperwork) offloading facility. Downwind 6 out of 7 days of the week. We were becoming ill and had no idea why. In fact oil has been prevalent in No. Mich. hot & heavy since the 80's. One day one of the roofs on one of the 150,000 storage tanks gave way. It was full of sour crude and when the roof collapsed on a full tank the H2S, or hydrogen sulfide went up and downwind. No warnings, no nothing. The DEQ, Department of Environmental Quality just brushed us off.
I was to the point of near death if I didn't get out of the area. My doctors' all agreed, I needed to leave Michigan, which has one of the worst air quality in the nation or take an experimental shot twice a month to have a fighting chance. Since finding out after stopping those "shots" after 9 months that they left me with side affects that will not go away as well as the affects of the chemicals we were exposed to: Tolulene, Benzene, Glycols, more than I can remember.
Oh yes, I also had a stroke from all this.
Can we find a lawyer, no way, we have been thru dozens. So we have lost all, my home, my security, my family and eventually my husband and I am left with more health problems than I can deal with. Through all this nightmare I met a wonderful man who does not get overwhelmed with my health and sensitivity to chemicals. Well, maybe some days but so do I.
We had Senator Stabenow, Congressman Stupak, Rep. at the time Matt Gillard and loads of DEQ, EPA people helping us. After 4 years of fierce fighting and losing our husbands the 2 wives fight on. Not as vigorous as we used to but we try.
Any type of chemical smell can bring me to the floor. I don't want to lose another wonderful man because of my health and I am clinging to hope that he will hang in there with me because with him life is great! Just a few things have to be fixed or altered to accommodate my health. I'm so afraid of losing him.
Lewiston, Michigan is on the Niagaran Reef and the Antrim Shale, oil and natural gas, aren't we lucky. So many alleged illegal activity with no regard for the people who live nearby. We were told we were the "sacrificial lambs" for the better good. OH PLEASE.
I write off the cuff so to speak. I thank all of you for keeping me updated on the situations throughout the country and we need to remember Northern Michigan also!!
